(Midori)
Well it's friday(Woo Hoo!) and payday(Woo Hoo!). Maybe you are unemployed though. Maybe you just aren't getting the hours you'd like, or maybe that raise is on hold until the banks decide to lend money again. Don't be depressed, stretch those dollars with the magic of stone soup! Woo Hoo! stone soup. All you need is a pot and a large clean stone to make a party in your mouth.
- Start by washing a medium sized stone. Place it in a pot. Add water to cover. Boil. That's it!
- Of coarse you can always make soup better. Maybe that old lady upstairs has some bullion, now that's the ticket. No fresh stock, no salt, but the bullion will cover for both.
- Taste. Pretty good huh? Still if you want push things maybe that young couple across the hall has a little left over chicken. You know the ones. She got pregnant, he got laid off so they spend fridays in now. Go invite them over.
- Wow, better and better. You might have to add more liquid to hold all that stoney goodness. Maybe those 2 girls at the end of the hall would like to come over too. They never go out until late. They're girls so they might even have some carrots. Carrots would be nice.
- Great, celery too! slice it all thin so it will cook quickly.
- The two goobers on the first floor might be hungry and you overheard them trying to figure out how to meet the girls, ask them to come up. I'll bet they have beer.
- Score, Sam Adams! Doesn't Mr Fezzywink like Sam Adams? He does, and he works at the bakery down the street. He also talks charm to the bullion lady, Marge, right? Give him a knock.
- 2 Italian sticks from the bakery. High five! It's a good thing you have butter. Mmmm butter.
- Everything has been cooking for a while now right? Check your pantry (can of mushrooms? Tomato paste? green beans?) Remember that stone soup is a pretty forgiving recipe.
- Any acid will sharpen the flavor (vinegar, lemon, hot sauce, wine) and any herb or green shredded will freshen the broth so the bullion doesn't taste so artificial.
- I hope you have enough bowls.
- Don't forget to play some tunes.
I bet you didn't think you could make such a great meal from a pot of water and a stone. Cooking, it's all knowing the ropes.
Keep it up, short, fat, dude!
